πŸ“Έ Our Favorite Things: Dogpatch Photography with Ann Wagaman

From time to time, we’ll be sharing services and products we really love, things we actually use and trust. We spend lots of time with many different dogs, so we really get to put things to the test and see what the dogs love, what works, and what doesn’t. Alex, with all her experience, is quick to spot what isn’t safe. I’m the pet parent who goes all out spoiling Rio and really has fun trying the newest and cutest things. We just wanted to share things we find and think you and your pups might enjoy.

Between the two of us, we’re only going to recommend what we think is worthwhile. We also really enjoy finding and supporting local businesses, and we feel incredibly lucky to have such a talented, award-winning pet photographer right here in our backyard.

Ann Wagaman with Dogpatch Photography is someone we absolutely love, and we’ve trusted her with Rio and Kiki.

If you’ve ever tried to get a really good photo of your dog, you know it’s not as easy as it looks. Even when you get a great shot of your dog, it’s usually with a background that isn’t very pretty.

Quinn

Her location, the 70 Acre Wood, is honestly one of the most magical settings and provides a beautiful background that adds so much to the photos.

Ann specializes in pet photography, not just a photographer who also takes photos of dogs, but someone who truly knows how to work with them. She’s certified in dog and cat first aid, trained in grief support, and takes a thoughtful, force-free approach when working with animals.

She’s also a multi-international award-winning photographer with over 10 years of experience and has trained with world-renowned pet photographers.

Ann is especially good at working with movement and has captured some amazing shots. I love the ones of dogs running and jumping.

Rocky

She’s also really able to capture each dog’s personality. One of my favorite photos is one Ann caught while Rio was playing around. She jumped up on a fence at the last second, completely unposed, with a little head tilt and looking so happy. You can just tell she was having fun and loving all the attention of being a model.

Rio

Her understanding of lighting is what really sets her apart, and you can see the difference in the final photos. The lighting is soft, the colors are warm and the photos are really special.

Beyond her work, Ann is just a genuinely kind and amazing person. It’s a fun and positive experience for both you and your pup.

She even partnered with us in the past to offer a holiday photo session as a donation to Camp Companion, a local rescue, which our clients loved and supported.

Dogs aren’t with us nearly long enough, and the memories we make with them become incredibly important. Having truly beautiful photos that capture who they are is something you’ll always be grateful to have.

If you’ve been thinking about having photos taken of your dog (and/or cat!), we can’t recommend her highly enough!

πŸš— Seasonal Safety Reminder

Summer is almost here, and warmer days are finally here to stay! Just a reminder that sidewalks and cars can heat up quickly, even when it doesn’t feel especially hot outside. Even 70Β° weather can mean a car temperature can reach over 100Β° in just 20 minutes. Even with windows cracked, cars heat up surprisingly fast. We hope everyone has a fun and safe summer!

Kindly,

Alex & Christine
