👻Tricks, Treats & Tail Wags! Four Fun Halloween Games for Your Pup.

Halloween isn’t just for kids! Your pup can join in the fun with a few simple games and some favorite treats.

🍭 Halloween Treat Taste Test

Offer your pup samples of two or three different dog-safe treats and see which one they choose first. You might discover a new favorite!

👹Monster Hide-and-Seek

Have someone hold your pup while you hide in another room. Call their name and see how quickly they can find you! Give them lots of praise and attention when they do.

🎃Pumpkin Patch Sniff Game

Grab a few orange plastic cups (or whatever cups you have!) and hide a treat under one or two of them. Let your pup sniff around and figure out where the goodies are hiding. Start easy, then add more cups for a little extra challenge!

🍎Bobbing for Apples

The classic Halloween game, but for pups! Fill a shallow bowl with a little water and add in a few apple slices, blueberries, or pieces of you pup’s regular kibble (if they float!). Let your pup have fun trying to catch the goodies! Keep the water shallow, choose treats appropriate for your pup’s size and supervise the fun. If your pup starts gulping water, it’s time to stop the game. Don’t forget a towel for the splashes!

🎃Howl-o-ween Pumpkin & Apple Treats

These easy frozen treats combine fiber-rich pumpkin, vitamin-packed applesauce, and tasty peanut butter and bone broth. They are a great way to add some fun and enrichment to your pup’s day!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain pumpkin purée (not pumpkin pie filling)

  • ½ cup plain, unsweetened applesauce

  • ¼ cup low-sodium chicken or beef broth (made without onions & garlic)

  • 1 tablespoon natural peanut butter (xylitol-free)

Directions

  1. Mix all ingredients until smooth, adding a little more broth if needed.

  2. Pour into silicone molds, fill a Kong, Toppl or Pupsicle mold, or spread onto a lick mat.

  3. Freeze for 3-4 hours our until firm.

Storage

Store frozen treats in an airtight container or freezer bag for up to 2 months.

A Little Pumpkin Goes a Long Way!

Too much pumpkin can cause digestive upset so start with small portions. One of the great things about homemade treats is that you can customize the size to fit your pup!

🍭A Few Halloween Safety Reminders

Halloween brings lots of excitement, especially for curious pups! Candy, especially chocolate and anything containing xylitol, can be dangerous for dogs. Decorations and costumes can also be tempting for pups who like to chew. And with doors opening frequently for trick-or-treaters, there’s a greater chance of a pup slipping outside and getting lost. A quiet room away from the front door or a secure area behind a baby gate can help keep them safe and comfortable during all the excitement. Wishing everyone a fun & safe Halloween!
