FEBRUARY at P-K Pet Resort & Spa
Hello from P-K Pet Resort & Spa
We’re hoping February brings a little warmer weather for you and your pups. Valentine’s is a good reminder that for dogs, time spent together often means everything — they’re happiest simply being with their people.

💘 Valentine’s Day: Making It Special for Your Dog
Valentine’s Day doesn’t need to be flashy to be meaningful for dogs. For them, feeling loved comes from feeling safe, understood, and cared for. Love is found in familiar routines, calm attention, and comfortable environments.
Dogs often show affection in subtle ways — choosing to stay close, relaxed body language, soft eye contact, or following familiar people from room to room. Recognizing and respecting these quiet signals helps build trust and deepen connection.
Simple ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your dog:
Extra one-on-one time
Cozy rest and downtime
A favorite, dog-safe treat
Playing their favorite game of fetch or tug
Trying something new (at your dog’s pace):
A puzzle toy or snuffle mat
A treat treasure hunt by hiding treats around the house
Short training games using cues your dog already knows
A “sniff walk” where your dog sets the pace and explores
Rotating toys instead of introducing many at once
A gentle grooming or brushing session for dogs who enjoy it
A calm enrichment activity like licking a frozen treat or chew
Sitting together quietly — reading, watching TV, or relaxing side by side
The goal isn’t to do more — it’s to do what your dog enjoys most. Paying attention to their comfort and preferences is one of the best ways to show love.

💘 Valentine’s Treats: Safety First & Thoughtful Choices
Valentine’s Day can be a fun opportunity to do something a little special for your dog — as long as it’s done with their health and safety in mind. Unlike people, dogs don’t benefit from sugary, rich, or highly processed foods, and many traditional Valentine’s treats are unsafe for dogs.
Treats to always avoid include:
Chocolate (toxic to dogs in any amount)
Xylitol (often found in sugar-free sweets and baked goods)
Candy, baked desserts, or anything high in sugar or fat
When choosing Valentine’s treats for your dog, look for:
Dog-specific treats made with simple, recognizable ingredients
Limited ingredients, especially for dogs with sensitivities
Appropriate portion sizes — smaller is usually better
Treats that fit into your dog’s normal routine rather than disrupt it
We carry local brands Rustic Acres and Must Be Ruff treats, both carefully selected for their high-quality, dog-friendly ingredients and well loved by our dogs. These are great options if you’re looking for a Valentine’s treat that feels special without being excessive.
